Description

Presentations in this session:

  • Presentation by Katrin Marheinecke, Senior Consultant at the department Speech and Language Technology at DFKI (Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz) and Project Manager of the Language Data Space (LDS)

The presentation focuses on one of the most mature European data spaces, the European Language Data Space (LDS). We will discuss the steps taken and challenges faced by LDS over the past two and a half years, examine its current state, and provide an outlook on what the next milestones will be. A brief glance at the newly launched beta version 2.0 of the LDS environment, including new features, including the publicly available LDS Catalogue will complete the talk.

  • Presentation by Gerard van der Hoeven, Executive Director, iSHARE Foundation

This talk explores how two complementary initiatives—the iSHARE Foundation and MyData—can join forces to empower both individuals and businesses in the digital economy. By aligning operational frameworks with principles of data sovereignty, they offer a concrete path toward rebalancing power dynamics in data sharing. From open standards and interoperability to certification and real-world implementation, Gerard will demonstrate how this collaboration fosters a new paradigm: one where individuals retain control over their data, and enterprises share data in a responsible, verifiable, and transparent way. The presentation will highlight how data portability, operator trust, and mutual verification mechanisms can shift power from centralised platforms to ecosystems rooted in trust.

This session is hosted by Marko Turpeinen.
