Speaker Bio
Nuala Dormer is the Deputy Director of Digital and Data Regulation at Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). An experienced public servant, she has played a key role in shaping Ireland’s approach to emerging digital regulation. Since joining the CCPC in 2019, Nuala has led initiatives across policy, enforcement, research and international cooperation—including establishing the Consumer Protection Cooperation Unit and helping launch the Policy, Research and International Division.
Now at the forefront of data regulation, Nuala is part of a team responsible for Ireland’s implementation of the Platform to Business Regulation, the Data Governance Act, and its regulation of online marketplaces in the Digital Services Act. She is preparing for the Data Act, where the CCPC will be both a competent authority and data coordinator. She also is a Member of the European Data Innovation Board and a member of the Veterinary Council of Ireland.
Prior to her work at the CCPC, Nuala held a senior role on Ireland’s National Broadband Plan, Ireland’s cornerstone rollout of high-speed broadband. She also worked in the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (now Coimisiún na Meán), where she oversaw public service broadcasting and media funding schemes. Her approach to regulation is grounded in collaboration, pragmatism, and a strong commitment to the public interest.
