Päivi Karkkola is a chief adviser on data regulation at Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom. Päivi is responsible for the national implementation of the Data Governance Act and the Data Act in Finland. She also participates in EU cooperation on the regulations, representing Finland in the European Data Innovation Board. Päivi has also extensive experience in the public sector in data utilization and data protection.

Traficom is the national competent authority for the Digital Services Act and Data Governance Act and will be the main competent authority and data coordinator for the Data Act and AI Act. Traficom was the first authority to grant permission for a data intermediation services provider to use the label of trusted intermediary.
