Description
Allowing users to transfer their personal data to MyData companies unlocks tremendous opportunities for innovation and privacy. Yet simple, secure data portability is a complex problem. DTI seeks to convene the MyData community to share our collective efforts on tools, trust, and public engagement.
Agenda:
- Opening overview: DTI Executive Director Chris Riley gives an overview of DTI.
- Group introductions: Participants introduce themselves and say 1-2 sentences regarding their level of experience with data portability / data transfers.
- Conversation about why: Jen Caltrider, DTI Director of Research and Engagement, will talk about why we work on portability, and why it matters.
- Legal/regulatory overview: Tom Fish, DTI Head of Europe, will provide an overview of the regulatory context in the European Union and United Kingdom.
- Technical and strategic discussion: Chris will speak to the mechanisms of data transfers as DTI supports them, with questions and thoughts welcome along the way
- Breakout discussions: Depending on the group, DTI will select breakout topics, or run a process for the group to identify and select topics. Small groups will discuss specific and more granular topics, and then come back together to share insights with the group.
- Break
- Additional breakout discussions, as time permits
- Closing wrap-up: Chris provides an overview of the discussions; the group is invited to offer additional individual thoughts, reactions, and open questions; and Chris offers a set of options for how to continue to build capacity going forward.
This workshop is an pre-event of the MyData 2025 conference and it is open to all conference ticket holders without separate registration. Others interested in this workshop may register for a spot here.
This session is hosted by Chris Riley.
